Fall Splendor in Wyoming

Of all the places that we've stayed so far, Jackson is probably the closest to one I could call home. That may be, in part, because we hit the Grand Tetons in full fall splendor. And maybe also because our original modest accommodations got dramatically upgraded when the first condo was closed for repairs.

Whatever the case may be, this place is amazing! We've enjoyed sitting on our porch enjoying the fall colors on the mountain.

And we've enjoyed strolling to the park to enjoy the play structures.

I've even had the pleasure of visitors strolling by my "office" window.

No doubt, this place is a super-cozy little mountain paradise. If anything, maybe just a little too nice. It's one of those places where you can find a Prada purse and a filet mignon, but we've had trouble finding Nathan a basic kid-sized sweatshirt and a hamburger.

Like the town of Jackson, Grand Tetons National Park is also amazing. We spent Saturday cruising the trails around Taggart and Bradley Lakes. The natural beauty was stunning!

Two miles into this pretty intense 6-mile hike, I asked Nathan to carry the "family" backpack for a little while. He did it without complaint. After a mile or so, pleased with his positive attitude, I offered to take it back ... and he refused! He ended up carrying that pack for almost the remainder of the hike. We were so proud of him!

One of the highlights of this hike was the bald eagle we saw at Bradley lake. We also had our most unusual wildlife sighting

On Sunday, having spent 8 of the last 9 days doing some pretty serious hiking, we were ready for a little rest. Thankfully the weather accommodated us by delivering a day with just enough rain to justify not hiking, but just clear enough that we could drive around and see the amazing sights.

As if the majesty of the mountains wasn't enough, we also rewarded with one of the most amazing rainbows we'd ever seen!

Not bad for a day spent in the car!
